How to use and enable the Reader Mode View in Firefox

A new feature called Reader Mode View, which allows distraction free reading on the Web is just introduce to a browser called Firefox. No doubt about this, Firefox is a popular browser either on computer or mobile device that compete largely with Google chrome. That is why it is very essential to know how one can use this new feature (Reader Mode View) on its device.

Reader Mode View can be enable and use on computer as well as mobile devices. Therefore sit back as you learn the steps on this article.

Websites can look busy with distractions that prevent you from focusing on what you are actually trying to read with different banners and ads. Reader Mode in Firefox is similar to Safari Reader and Reading View on the Kindle Fire’s Silk browser.

It basically strips out all the ads, menus, and other Web page elements and reformats the page for easy readability. Enabling Reader Mode View is surprisingly easy on both PC and mobile and only requires that you have Firefox installed before getting started.

Windows is used as an example in this article, but Reader View works pretty much the same in versions of Firefox for other operating system. Here are the steps to follow:

Step 1 ====> Open the browser on your computer ie Firefox

Step 2 ====> Load the article you want to read, take a look at the address bar.

Step 3 ====> If the page is available in Reader Mode View, you will see the Reader View icon to the right of the URL NOTE: not every page is available in Reader View.

Step 4 ====> Click the icon and it will turn to blue and the page reloads with the article formatted for Reader Mode View.

Notice how the page has been cleaned up and some things have disappeared. The navigation bar and sidebars are gone, all the text has been centered for easier readability, and an estimated article reading time has been added under the headline.

Step 5 ====> Firefox adds sidebar with a few options for exiting Reader View; adjusting your font, size, and background color; enabling audio narration; and saving the page to Pocket for later reading.

To enable Reader Mode on mobile device, here are the steps to follow:

Step 1 ====> Open the browser on your mobile device

Step 2 ====> Wait for the Web page to load

Step 3 ====> Then tap on the book icon next to the URL

Step 4 ====> Once in Reader Mode, you can save the article to your reading list or go directly to the address bar/bookmarks by tapping on one of the icons at the bottom.

You can also change the size of the text and margins, as well as change the theme from black on white, to white on black (for night reading). Reader Mode works very well on Android tablets too.
