Transfer data from internal memory to external memory is one of techniques to free up space on your smartphones. This is what I noticed about new phone, it perform very fast. But over time, as you download new apps, taken some pictures, receive music from friends these will be accumulated and thereby occupy the internal memory.

Moving internal storage to SD card (external storage) improve the performance of your phone. Mainly when you transfer data from internal memory to SD card, such as games, browsers, picture and other apps.

In addition, internal memory is the default storage of most smart phones. This simply means that everything on your phone will be stored on the internal memory.

Big thanks to developers, they make it easier for us, they provide way for external storage devices. So, you can move pictures, apps, music and videos to SD card (external storage).

Another important merit of having expandable storage on the shiny new devices is the ability to move large apps or games to the added storage space (SD Card).

The process to transfer data from internal memory is simple and should not affect your day-to-day use of any apps or the device.

How To Transfer Apps From Phone Memory To SD Card

Before we go into this in details, I want us to quickly look out for something. Not all apps on our phones can be move to SD card. Some phone will not let you to transfer data from internal memory, mainly Apps. Whether or not an app can be moved to micro SD is down to the app developer and sometimes, the phone manufacturer.

Now let start the process of moving apps from phone to SD card or external memory present on your phone. To move an app to the SD card

Step 1 ====> Go to Settings

Step 2 ====> Apps menu

Step 3 ====> Then tap on Storage. If you are able to move the app to SD you will see a Change button next to Storage used: Internal shared storage.

Step 4 ====> Tap the Change button

Step 5 ====> Then select the SD card option in the pop-up menu. You will see a screen offering to export the app, warning you that you should not remove the SD card while this is in progress.

Step 6 ====> Finally tap Move. The transfer will then take place.

How To Transfer Files From Phone Memory To SD Card

Step 1 ====> Open the menu or Apps tray

Step 2 ====> Tap file manager (file explorer) to open it, if you don’t have one, download from Google Play store.

Step 3 ====> Tap the icon/folder for Local Storage

Step 4 ====> Navigate the device’s (local) storage until you find the desired files or folders you want to move.

Step 5 ====> Tap the Menu Icon to show a drop-down list of actions.

Step 6 ====> Choose Select from the drop-down list of actions.

Step 7 ====> Tap empty check boxes to select the individual files/folders you want to move. You can tap the check box at the top to Select All

Step 8 ====> Tap the Menu Icon again to show the drop-down list of actions. Then choose Move from the drop-down list of actions.

Step 9 ====> Now navigate the device’s (local) storage until you find the desired destination folder on the (external) SD card.  If you cannot find one, tap create folder to create new one.

Step 10 ====> Tap the destination folder.

Step 11 ====> Tap the Move Here action

Step 12 ====> Wait for your device to finish moving the files/folders. Repeat these steps until you have moved all the desired files/folders from your device’s internal storage to the SD card.
