After beginning its mobile run as a timed, invite-only iOS exclusive, the hugely popular battle royale game Fortnite made its way for Android last week, as a timed, invite-only Samsung exclusive. Fortunately, after the buzz surrounding the recently-announced Samsung Galaxy Note 9 subsided a bit, Fortnite is now coming to other phones as well, though the invite-only aspect is still at play.
Fortnite for Android, this is not available in the Google Play Store for now. You will have to install it manually. One of the nice things about Android is the ability to install APKs, Android Package Kits that are not included in the Play Store.
This allows developers to let users test apps out without going through the official channels and gives users the freedom to install specific apps they may not be able to get elsewhere. This, of course, comes with the risk of compromised security. Here’s how to do it:
How to Install Fortnite on Android For Samsung Phone
Since Samsung has a brief exclusivity period for Fortnite, it is easier to install on its devices using the Galaxy Apps store. Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1 ====> First of all, head over to www.fortnite.com/android from your Samsung phone.
Step 2 ====> Then tap the Samsung button, this will redirect you to the Fortnite page in the Galaxy Apps store.
Step 3 ====> Now tap the Install button to download the installer. Once downloaded, the installer will launch.
Step 4 ====> Tap the Install button here to download the full Fortnite game, it will require storage permissions, so just grant that when requested.
Step 5 ====> Once the installation is finished, tap the Launch button.
The game will launch, but you are not done yet, it has another gigabyte to download. Once that is finished, however, you will be ready to rock and roll.
How to Install Fortnite on All Other Android Devices
Based on above information, Samsung has an exclusivity period for Fortnite for Android. But once that period is over, you will be able to install the game on a bunch of other Android devices go here for a full list.
Once Epic Games green lights you, you will receive an invitation email which will contain a download link for the Fortnite installer app.
Step 1 ====> You have to install the installer first in order to install the actual game. This app is required even on Samsung devices, though it can be downloaded from the official Galaxy Apps store.
Step 2 ====> When you get the email from Epic, depending on your security settings, you will likely be asked to grant Android permissions to install apps from ‘Unknown’ sources.
Step 3 ====> Then grant this permission, after you have installed Fortnite, you can either grant it for this session only, or alternatively head to the Settings ====> Security and disable it from there later on.
Step 4 ====> Once the Fortnite installer is on your phone, you can then go ahead and fire it up to download the actual game.
Step 5 ====> When you think it was downloaded, you can open it to find out that there is an additional 1.04GB download. Yeah, it is one of those, but it is to be expected, considering the scope of the game.
